We have recently discovered some amazing vintage birthday party books and would like to share some of their wisdom with you. In the 50?s and 60?s there were 100 page books published on how to make your child?s party a successful one. Here we explore the best times to host your child?s party using some of their wisdom.
MORNING PARTIES
Young children are at their best in the mornings. A party for 5 years old and under would be wisely chosen at around 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM with lunch being served at noon. This gets everyone home in time for nap.
LUNCH TIME PARTIES
For 6-11 year olds this time is perfect and should last about 3 hours. Serve snacks first and be sure that parents are clear on the going home time otherwise the party will go on forever.
AFTERNOON PARTIES
This is the perfect time for an ice cream and cake party rather than a full meal. It should be planned to about 2 1/2 hours and food should be served first so not to interfere with dinner.
DINNER PARTIES
These should also be planned to last about 2 1/2 hours and dinner should last about 1/2 hour of that. With proper timing the kids should be finishing their dinner just in time for pick up.
