Switchfoot ? Vice Verses: A Review | A&E Playground

Switchfoot - Vice VersesWe are right at the beginning of a busy major release season. I have heard the track ?Dark Horses? from Switchfoot?s new release Vice Verses during a football game, so it has received major exposure to a large audience. It?s also an excellent song with nice guitar work. ?Selling the News? is an unusual song with some truth about news being prostituted. This most likely won?t make a hit recording. ?Restless? is a nifty slow-grinding Rock song. There is nice song variety here.

?Afterlife? is a song that really rocks. It?s also one of the best. ?The Original? is a fast rocking song that will get you going when you need a musical kick in the rear end. ?The War Inside? is a Rock song with a Pop sensibility. This doesn?t make this a selling out song. ?Blinding Light? with it?s gritty guitar and drum beat with a lilt, will please the fussiest critic. ?Thrive? has a pretty good Alternative sound with a touch of Pop in there. ?Where I Belong? is a long Alternative Rock song that may be too long for radio and the short attention span. If you have the time it is well worth a listen.

?Souvenirs? starts out slow but becomes an excellent song with a lot of rolling drums. ?Rise Above It? has a groove and very excellent percussion. This is another fine example of the variety we find here. The track ?Vice Verses? is a very intriguing Alternative acoustic song. I like this one the best of all of these. This is a four and a quarter star effort from Switchfoot and highly recommended for a Christmas release seasonal gift. Switchfoot are: Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass guitar, backing vocals), Chad Butler (drums, percussion), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Drew Shirley (guitar, backing vocals). The band hails from San Diego, California.
