AAA: Nevada gas prices shoot 38 cents in 1 month

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Nevada's average gas price has shot up 38 cents in a single month.

AAA statistics released Tuesday show the average price was $3.54 per gallon, slightly lower than the national mark of $3.60.

AAA officials say the dramatic spike in prices comes from more expensive crude oil, regional refinery issues, and a move toward summer-blend gasoline.

The state's most expensive gas is in Sparks, where the average price is $3.74 per gallon. North Las Vegas is on the low end, with an average gas price of $3.43 per gallon.

Wyoming claims the nation's cheapest gas, with an average price of $3.07 per gallon. Hawaii has the most expensive gas, with an average price of $4.24 per gallon.
